Following up on the suicide in Portland of Edwin Ghirardelli, the San Francisco Chronicle has an update quoting from his father’s letter expressing disappointment at Edwin’s failure to “reform” his homosexuality, and denying Edwin’s plea to be allowed to return home:

[T]his has been one of the hardest blows I have ever experienced, as I had really hoped you had turned over a new leaf and that your reform was complete.  I kept your misdeeds from your mother as long as I could, but finally she had to share my deep sorrow.”
