The New York Times reports on the work of Danish medical professor Johannes Fibiger, who claims that by infecting cockroaches with roundworms, and then feeding the cockroaches to otherwise healthy rats, he gave them stomach cancer.
This should easily be enough for Dr. Fibiger to receive a Nobel Prize, one imagines — to win a Nobel Prize one need not show one has done much of anything. But is this enough for Dr. Fibiger to earn a Nobel Prize? For all we know, the rats got cancer not because of the roundworms, but because Dr. Fibiger forgot to give them their vitamins. Time will tell.
