DARWIN AWARD: Another “playful” worker

An apparently about-to-be-nominated candidate for a “Darwin Award” (he’s not quite dead) is William J. Coogan of Cincinnati. Coogan apparently took  a cue from Alejandro Ramirez, a miner who recently sought to amuse himself while climbing down a mine-shaft.

As reported in the Atlanta Constitution, Coogan “fell down an elevator shaft from the twenty-ninth floor” of a building in which he was working.  “When playfully attempting to grab the wires of the elevator he lost his balance and toppled over.  He is reported to have a fair chance to recover.” Given Coogan’s apparently mangled condition, one suspects that assessment is overly optimistic.
